1. COMPETITION INFO

 

Assembly                         Söderkulla school centre on both days, nearest address Opintie 6, Sipoo. Guidance from road 170, 25 km from Helsinki. Latitude: N 60º 18.071' & Longitude: E 025º 19.546'.

 

Parking                             At the school.

 

Course length                 Day 1: 1,4 km, 17 controls, two timed controls and maximum time of 95 min.

                                           

Day 2: 1,8 km, 19 controls, three timed controls and maximum time of 120 min.

 

Map and terrain              Maps on both days are drawn according to the IOF’s ISSOM 2007.

 

                                            Day 1: Sprint map “Söderkulla-Taasjärvi” (9/2009). Scale 1:5000 and contour interval 2,5 m, laser printed. Terrain mostly forested. Distance from finish to the competition centre is 500 m.

 

                                            Day 2: Part of an old O-map “Söderkulla” (2002), converted to a sprint map “Söderkulla C” (2007), modified for Trail-O 9/2009. Scale 1:5000 and contour interval 2,5 m, laser printed. Terrain mostly forested, high climb. Distance from finish to the competition centre is 800 m.

 

Competition material    Bib numbers, pin punchers and competition cards will be handed out from info at the competition centre to the team officials.

 

Pre-start                           Day 1: 14:00 at the competition centre.

                                            Day 2: 10:00 at the competition centre.

 

                                            After pre-start competitors will proceed to the timed controls. After completing the timed controls competitors will proceed to the start where they will be issued their competition maps. Distance from pre-start to the start is 700 m (day 1) and 800 m (day 2). The route to the start is marked with white-and-green stripes.

 

Timed controls               The instructions will only be given in English as follows:

 

“There are five control flags: Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo. Time starts now!”

 

After the finish                Follow the trail marked with green-and-white stripes back to the competition centre. Deliver the competition card to the organizers at info. Distance from the finish to the competition centre is 500 m (day 1) and 800 m (day 2).

 

Service                             Smaller kiosk and toilets available at the competition centre also for wheelchair users. Lunch and social dinner (Saturday) will be served at service house Linda, right next to the competition centre.

Other issues                    It is not allowed to use a mobile phone on the competition course. It is allowed to move only on tracks and areas drawn with brown colour. Moving in other areas is forbidden. Out of bounds area is on day 2 after 09:45 north side area of the School!
